Fighting Spam and Managing Comments

If you run a website that encourages user interaction of any kind, whether it's just through a contact form or through comments and forum posts, you're no doubt going to get a nice serving of spam. Drupal website are not immune to this problem? There are many different ways to deal with spam. You can choose to personally moderate every single comment you get, which will quickly get overwhelming as your website grows, or you can install a tool to help filter out the trash and leave you with less to handle.

Learn to Manage Roles, Users, and Permissions

Drupal allows you to manage how visitors interact with your website through a powerful system of roles and permissions. You can create roles into which to place your users, depending on the functionality of your website, and how you want users to interact with your site.

You can control what each person who comes to your site is able to do, and even what they're able to see, by assigning them to a role that has the permissions you desire. This requires planning on your part.

Pathauto Configured

We have now configured the pathauto module on Learn Drupal so that the urls will look more friendly and make more sense. All news items will have /news/ in the url so that you can distinguish them from other stuff immediately. Similarly for blogs, forum topics, and all that.
